The 2016 Association for Talent Development conference in Denver has drawn to a close.

Here’s a summary of insights from this year:

How to lead like a girl: Women in the Workplace

Tacy Byham gave an awesome analysis of how underrepresented women are in leadership positions in the US.

The best takeaway from her talk was that women need to learn to stand up and be recognised! #leadlikeagirl, negotiate your salary and go for those top positions. If your employer won’t respect you based on gender, find yourself a good employer (your talents are probably wasted at your current organisation anyway).

Brave leaders = successful businesses

Brené Brown challenged leaders to be brave – to lean into discomfort and make the hard decisions that need to be made.

Why Some Teams Come Together and Others Don’t

Simon Sinek, talking about his latest book “Why Some Teams Come Together and Others Don’t” talked about the reasons why some people love their jobs and others don’t – and what defines those two feelings.

Until next year!
